Tismana kilims are hand woven in Romania, the traditional floral design comes from the Olt river region, south west of Bucharest. This design has been certainly been woven for the past two centuries, there are dated examples in museum catalogues. The kilims featured here are made specially for us, we have had to adapt the colours to softer tones, more in keeping with today's fashions.
The kilims are wool weft with cotton warp, and are available in the following standard sizes, other sizes can be made to order, up to 4.00m /13 foot width, any length is possible. However, the time to make such sizes is variable, and the price is a little higher for bigger kilims.
